There’s more to West Bay CrossFit than just CrossFit. Join us for even more ways to increase your fitness! CROSSFITThis is where the magic happens. Once you have completed your On-Ramp classes, you are ready to participate in our regular group classes. In essence, CrossFit is a strength and conditioning program combining elements of weightlifting, gymnastics and endurance. Three characteristics differentiate CrossFit from other exercise programs:
Everyday you will experience something different. We vary sets, reps, load, speed – everything. All of our movements are also incredibly functional—there are no bicep curls in our gym! Instead, you’ll find deadlifts, squats and presses; pullups, pushups and burpees; and more running and rowing than you can imagine! Our moves are unique in their ability to challenge the body and work more than one joint/muscle group at a time. Last but not least: our workouts are intense, the characteristic that is most closely associated with what our members are looking for—results. However, intensity is an individual thing and what’s intense for one person might be easy for someone else. This is why all of our workouts are scalable and tailored to the individual. At CrossFit Westbay class usually begins with a warm followed by movement demonstrations for the upcoming workout, and then we get started. Throughout the class, our instructors will make sure proper form is being maintained, answer your questions and give you pointers. Each class is one hour long. Click here to see our schedule! WEST BAY BARBELL CLUBWhether you are a beginner or experienced lifter and CrossFitter, the two Olympic lifts—the snatch and the clean and jerk—are something we all constantly work to become better at due to the high level of technique involved. It all comes down to practice and skill work. In addition to your regular CrossFit membership, CFWB members will have access to a weekly barbell club where they will work solely on the Olympic lifts. YOGADo you suffer from tight hips, hamstrings, or shoulders? Every person likely has some mobility issue that they need to address and many have found that implementing yoga and other stretching methods greatly improves tightness in their muscles and helps to aid in recovery. Not only will it help you do better in the gym, but it is also used to help the body relax and de-stress after a hard day or difficult week. |
